 Hello^^
I am Sang in New Jersey, and it is my first writing about American life on Haniedu.
I want to write it in Korean but i am using my host family's desk top. So i can't write in Korean.
SoRRY,,,GUYS.
Anyway, it has been over 4 months since i came here. And we are heading to New Year. 2011.
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!!!
I left from Korea in August 10. We went to NYC and did ORIENTATION in NYC for 4 days. NYC is so great, i love the city. Fortunately, i have more opportunity to go to NYC than others because i am staying 30 minutes far from NYC by car. Orientation was just okay, except CITY TOUR. It was great. During the Orientation, i made some Korean friends and we are keeping in touch still, Sang, Chisus, David, Chad, SeongJae. It was nice to see you guys^^ Ah, my roomates were Venezulans, they were tall and big, BUT we were all friends LOLOL

OH MY GOSH, THE DATE IS WRONG,,,,, SORRYYYYY

My host family memebers are 5, actually 7 including 2 dogs. My host dad, mom, 2 sisters and a host brother also 2 big dogs. 2 sisters are in college, so i just stay with 3 members of them. Also our house is pretty big and old. actually this town is quite old and small. Whatever...........SDC15045.JPG

    About my school!!!!!
My school is Northern Valley Regional Demarest High School, yeah so long name. it is pretty big high school in america comparing with other schools becasue there are about 1300 students. However there is very very amazing thing in my school. it is that there are many Korean students in my school. i heard that about 30 % of students are Koreans because one town has a lot of Korean population. Many of my friends are Korean now. Yeah, it is surprising to other Exchange Students but it is true. There are some Koreans who can speak Korean well on the other hand there are also many Koreans who were born here. Absolutely, i am trying to speak English with them. By the way, about my school, my school is well known as a smart high school. my school is in TOP 10 in NEW JERSEY. So it is a little tough to study here but i am trying hard:)

Let me show my schedule of school
i am taking English1, ESL(English Second Language), Trigonometry, Chemistry, US History 1, Beginning Band and P.E.(Health). i have 6 periods in a day. Our school starts at 7 40 am and ends at 2 36.
I have 2 English classes, English 1 and ESL. English 1 is for Freshman but i took it because i know that my english is not good enough to study with my grade. we usually read the books and study grammers in the class. ESL is for foreigners like me. there are many students who can't speak English well. Of course they are almost Koreans, and some students form Israel, Spain and Mexico. we learn something easier than Real English class, such as we are learning essential grammer and easy books. It is pretty easy for me.
Next Trigonometry is my math class. i am learning with Seniors and Juniors but it is very easy. that is true that Korean Math is the hardest one in whole wide world. i think you guys also have no problem with math in America.
Chemistry is my science subject. i think it is my worst subject in America actually i dont like science in Korea either. you need to memorize ions and some stuffs about Chemistry. i cant advise anyting about sicence, sorry:(
U.S history 1 is my history class and it is one of my highest scored subjects. i think if you like history and read some stuffs about U.S. history, it doesnt matter. And fortunately my teacher understands me a lot. So it is one of my favorite subjects.
For elective, i am taking Beginning Band. it is very small class, there are only 1 more students in this class. we are learning Clarinet which i had never seen in Korea. it is hard to play but i feel comfortable in this class. And my teacher likes to learn Korea, actually he can speak Korean a lot. haha
i think that you guys should do something at school when you come to America. in my opinion, i worked for Varsity Soccer team because i tried out for soccer team but i couldnt make it. it was really great time to make friends in school. and now i am doing Bowling in school, actually i am on the team. Also i am doing ski club. i think joining any team or clubs is very good opportunity to make friends. So i seriously suggest it to you guys who are gonna come to america by exchange students.
