Playing sports in U.S.A is a good oppportunity that you will get socialized with other people and get yourself healthy. Have fun with other people and get rid of all the stress you had!
 Here in America, I saw many people involved in at least one sports group. I won't say Koreans never play sports and I think we do have sports activities same as here are in America.

But I saw more people participating in sports group here then back in Seoul.

미국에서는 운동을 하는 것은 사회생활을 하는데 있어서 굉장히 중요한 요소 중 하나이고, 스트레스를 해소하는데 있어서도 굉장히 도움이 많이 돼요!

미국에서 많은 사람들이 적어도 하나 이상의 운동 클럽에 참여하는 것 같아요.

아마 한국도 많이 비슷할거라 예상돼요.
그래도 제가 서울에 있던 것에 비해서 훨씬 더 많은 사람들이 특정 운동 클럽에 참여하는 것 같아요. :)

Kayaking is one of the very popular sports that people play. Even the amateurs can easily join the

race. :)

There is a big river near where I live: The Shenandoah River.

Although it is smaller than Han River, because the river is big and long, many kayak races are thrown.

카약은 여기서 굉장히 인기가 많은 운동 중에 하나에요. 프로가 아닌 초보자들도 쉽게 참여할 수 있답니다.

제가 살고 있는 곳 가까이, Shenandoah 강이 있는데,

한강보다는 작지만, 상당히 큰 강이라서, 많은 카약 대회가 열려요. 

 위의 사진의 사람들은 안전요원이에요. 카약 대회가 꼭 강에서 열려야 하기 때문에 불시의 사고를 위해 안전요원이 꼭 필요해요.

 

The girl with big and heavy yellow raincoat is me. I got to watch my friend's grandmother's dog and she is very charming. Her name is 'Perra"  which means "dog" in Spanish.

 

위의 노란 우비를 입고 있는 얘가 저에요. 잠시동안 친구의 할머니의 개를 맡게 됐는데, 굉장히 사람을 잘 따르고 귀여워요 :)

이름은 "Perra" 인데 스페인어로 개라는 뜻이에요 :P

 오른쪽 사진의 얘가 저를 이 여행으로 데려온 친구에요.

 

 

 

 

These are the picture taken while the people waiting for the kayak race. The race was delayed for a few hours because of the heavy storm the night before. The height of the river got really high and the water was so fast that it was uncertain in that moment that whether or not the kayak race is being held.

 

 

 이 사진은 카약 대회가 시작하기를 기다리면서 찍은 사진이에요. 전날의 비바람 때문에 경주가 몇 시간동안 지체가 됐었어요.

강물의 높이가 매우 높고, 물의 속도가 매우 빨라서 카약 경기가 열릴지 안열릴지 이 때 확실히 몰랐어요.

 

 

After the waiting, we finally got to start the race!

 그렇게 기다리다 결국 경주가 시작됐어요!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The pictures were taken when we listening to the instructions. The race was postponed and half of the people already left when the race finally got to start. My friend and I could have raced, too if the water wasn't too high and too fast.

 

 

 이 사진은 대회 전 설명을 들으면서, 몰래 찍은 사진이에요. 경주가 지체되면서, 절반 가량의 참여자들이 떠났어요 ㅠㅠ

제 친구와 저도 경주에 참여할 수도 있었지만 수면이 너무 높고, 물살이 빠른 관계로 그냥 경주를 지켜보기로 했어요.

After the race was over, we had our picnic.

 And everyone had their lunch.

경기가 끝난 후, 작은 피크닉을 열어 모두들 점심을 먹었어요. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 And then, the judges and my friend's grandmother who was in charge, gave all the trophies and medals :)

 

 모두가 점심을 먹은 후, 심판들과 전체 감독이신 친구의 할머니께서 대회 트로피와 메달을 시상하셨어요 :)

 

 

 

 Finally, this is the picture of my friend and I. It got really hot afternoon, so I got to take off my heavy raincoat :)

 We all wore matching "kayak" t-shirts.

 

 마지막으로, 이 사진이 저와 제 친구에요. 오후 정도에 날씨가 잠잠해지고 너무 더워져서 우비를 벗어던지고 카약 단체 티셔츠를 입고 찍었어요!

Having to watch the kayak race live was much more interesting than I had expected! And it was a

great experience to get to see all the adults in the mid-age, working out on the sports. They really enjoyed it.

카약 대회를 실제로 보는 건 생각보다 훨씬 더 흥미로웠어요. 중년의 연령대의 분들이 운동 즐겨 하시는 것에 감명받았어요 :D
