Hello! I’m Sujeong Yu, a reporter in Vermont! Here is my 10th report, for March.

How have you been? Are you excited about spring coming? In Vermont we have still cold weather. But it’s better than freezing winter. I hope we’ll get flowers and birds soon. I had a really fun time with a lot of school events and activities. March was the busiest month, I guess. I would like to share with you guys. Here we go!

# International Talent Show

On February 15th, many diverse international cultures were shown in my school’s auditorium. This show consisted of foreign language poems, songs, dances and other things like that. German poems, French songs, Spanish dance, Russian poem, Thai poem, Indonesian dance, Filipino dance, Egyptian rap and Korean songs were presented. I played the Korean traditional flute, which is called Tanso. I played two songs. One was our traditional song, Doraji. The other was a famous American song, “Clementine”. I performed the second one because people could be bored with unknown songs. I showed that I could play some American songs with the traditional flute. But my favorite part was seeing the Won-Hwa-Do presentation performed to music. Four kids showed Won-Hwa-Do to the audience. I was proud of them, because I’m in that class. I like Won-Hwa-Do a lot. The presentation was a good opportunity to show people what Won-Hwa-Do is. Many people enjoyed the International Talent Show.

# Pop Concert (March 22nd ~ 24th)

I think the Pop concert is the biggest concert at my school, Mt. Anthony, every year. Anyone could try out to join the concert. Two music teachers had the audition for 3 days, and they figured out who could join. I didn’t try out, but I’m in jazz band, which gave me the opportunity to play in the Pop concert. We did rehearsals for two days and performed for three days. That was a busy week. Every day the performances finished at about ten or eleven at night. I was pretty exhausted, but it was a really fun time. I was excited to hear all the songs for 5 days. When it was over, I couldn’t hide my tears of joy. Do you know why? It will be a happy memory in my exchange year, and it’s over now. It made me sad, but now it’s okay. I try to think positively all the time. Those were fun memories to me.

# Presentation about Korea

The second semester started about two months ago. I was willing to share Korean culture with my new classmates. I did PowerPoint presentations in Won-Hwa-Do, English and biology classes. I think it was a good way to show many pictures in a short time. If I passed around some pictures, it would take a long time to show them all. I was glad to show the pictures, especially of North Korea, because many people have been asking me about North Korea. I didn’t know much about it even though I’m Korean. But I know better than Americans, so I told them as much as I know about North Korea. Some teachers heard about my presentation, and they start asking me to do in their classes, too. I will be willing to do that.

March is almost over already. Time goes too fast. Outside is really beautiful. I want to go for a walk. Have a nice day!
