Hello everyone. I am Jungwon Moon in San Antonio, Texas.
How have y'all been? I am having a great time here.
Actually the reason why I am here today is to tell you about the most exciting sports game I've ever seen on January, 2nd. My Korean family and I weren't a big fan of sports. The only time I watched sports was during Olympics or World Cup. However, as you know sports are really big thing in Amrica. During football season, football game is held on every other Friday at school and from Friday to Monday there are tons of football games played on TV. My host parents are really big fan of TCU football because both of them graduated from TCU, so they watched TCU football game every Saturday night and cheered loudly. To me, watching football wasn't a big deal. At first time, my host mom explained me the rules of football, but even after learning the rules, it was still hard for me to enjoy. So I zoned out sometimes while I was watching football. I've been to football stadium once in November, but unluckily, it was the least exciting game TCU ever played because the gap of level between TCU and the other team was too huge. Thus, on Christmas, when my host mom asked me if I wanted to go to the bowl game, which costs over $100 per person, I couldn't decide easily. However, because all of my host family were going, if I don't go I would be bored at home all day long and, how many more chances will there be for me to watch American football in stadium? Also, the bowl game is a really big thing because it's competition between the best teams. So I decided to go. And when I think about my decision now, it was awesome that I chose to go to the game. Actually, refer to my host father, the Alamo bowl game we watched was a game as valuable as that it can be recorded in history. Even though you are those who have no interest in football at all, I recommend to go the bowl game. You will never regret it.

Before I start talking about the real game, I would introduce about Peprally first. Our Peprally was in riverwalk, San Antonio on December ,31st. Because my host father was exhausted from the work during the week, just my host sister , my host mom and me went to the Peprally.
What is Peprally?
a meeting aimed at inspiring enthusiasm, especially one held before a sporting event

This is the photo we took right after we got there. The stage is empty ye. :) We played against Oregon, so half of the seat was TCU and the other side was Oregon. TCU's school color is purple, so I wore the hoody which has TCU mark on it and my host sister wore purple TCU hoody. The people there distributed the necklaces and Pompoms in each team's color for each side of people . Do you see the stage behind us? Cheerleaders of each team danced on the stage and bands from other schools which came here to cheer each side performed. My host sister is a  cheerleader at her school, so her camera was busy taking photos and videos of TCU cheerleaders and she posted it on Snapchat with a lot of excitement. Can you see the river? Actually Riverwalk is a sightseeing place, so a lot of boats run on the river and there was no exception on Peprally day. While the performance was going on, boats passed the stage along the river. The most impressive thing was that the football players and band people from each team replaced in front of the stage riding a boat at the end of the Peprally. Sometimes the football players threw the T-shirt which has their team's name on it, and there was a lot of hands to the sky to catch the T-shirt. Actually, the man sitting next to me pushed people to get T-shirt and ended up with making the old man to bleed from his nose.

This is while the cheerleaders were performing. Can you see two boats full of people? That is the boats of band people from each college.

On the bowl game day, it was quite cold. So I wore sweat shirt, hoody, parka. San Antonio's winter is really weird so "yesterday I wore short sleeve but today I wore parka" this kind of big weather gap can happen anyday. Anyway we arrived at the stadium 2 hours earlier so we stayed at the tent which was prepared for the people like us. There were a lot of friends of my host parents from college and they were really funny. We had a good time there. There were some food and drinks for free for those who payed for the wrist band. We didn't know when it'll end so we ate dinner there.

This is the bowl game ticket. The game was really long. I think it ended at about at 10:20 . Our family was hungry so we ate dinner at taco place again at midnight.

As long as I know, American sports game usually do the flag ceremony. In the last Scorpions game, I joined the flag ceremony, too. In the ceremony, people grabbing the rolled huge American flag unroll it at the center of the field and shake it a few times. I think it is kind of "Saluting the colors".  Anyway, we did the flag ceremony before the game. ha

I think I have to tell you this!! Football game has 4 quarters. And each quarter has 15 minutes. Actually during the first 2 quarters, TCU was losing by 0 to 31. Everybody must have thought Oregon would win. I was so disappointed that I regretted I paid over $100 for this miserable game. But you know what? We turned over the score during the last half and won by 47 vs. 41. (I'm not sure about the exact score, my brain is not number-friendly :) I kept yawning and fell asleep for a moment during the first half and I zoned out even when the third quarter started. Our side people were exhausted with cheering TCU, and even there was a man who is Oregon side near us. That man kept provocating hatefully to the people on our side. Suddenly, TCU scored and they never stopped scoring. At the end of the game we and Oregon was in same point so we did overtime. However, when one scored the other also scored, and it kept happening. So we went to triple overtime. Eventually TCU won, but I think both of them did their best so both teams are a winner. Internet said this game is the third January kickoff history.

It's the selfie my host family and I took at the end of the game. Actually my host sister and I took selfie to post on the Snapchat and then my host mom asked all of us to take selfie. My host dad took the photo but he placed the phone too close to his face. His real face is not this big.  Haha.  I think you may be curious about what we are doing with our fingers. Folding two fingers like a frog is TCU's symbolization becuase TCU's mascot is a horned frog.

After the game, we had our picture taken football field as backgroud of the photo.

My story about football game ended. Even if you have no interest in sports in Korea, keep trying watching sports. Then you may have a chance to watch a super exciting game that will be in your memory forever!!
