The time flies too, but the seasonal change is different every single day. I think it’s important to catch the beautiful scenery for the wonderful ending.

November 24th : Thanksgiving
It’s the time of the year when the food fills up our stomach more than usual. Traditionally, Thanksgiving is when people give their thanks to the God for another year of abundance and celebrate by cooking the harvested produce. Although these days, we buy the ingredients but the cooking part is the same.
To digest before we go to sleep, we planned to eat our dinner at 2pm. We started cooking in the morning. We baked sweet potato biscuit, pumpkin pie, mashed potato, cranberry bulgur wheat and unturkey. Yesterday, at my US History class, Mr. Trost suggested me to buy that little ready-made turkey dish at the grocery store to taste REAL turkey meat. But I told him that they made those fake meats taste like the actual thing, so I was fine and maybe he should try some later.

We boiled the potatoes to mash it.

For the sweet potato biscuit, I cut out the dough with a circular cup and threw it into the oven. The biscuits were really good. It went along with the gravy. Mmm~♡

The pie was my favorite part. Besides the cute, little pumpkin pie Charlene bought for me on Halloween, this was my 1st pumpkin pie. And it was PERFECT!!! I loved it so much, I made another one the day after the Thanksgiving for myself and Charlene keke~ the pumpkin was thick enough, the crust wasn’t breaking weakly. After it came out of the oven, I decorated with walnuts. Doesn’t it look prettier than previous one? Because of my over flowing love for the pumpkin pie, I decided to share the recipe with you^^*
>>>Pumpkin pie<<<
1 9 or 10 inch pie crust
½ cup maple syrup
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
½ teaspoon salt
22 cups pureed kabocha squash(단호박) or 1 15-ounce can solid-pack pumpkin
1 ½ cups soy or rice milk
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large owl, stir together the cornstarch, spices and salt. Blend in the pumpkin, maple syrup, and soy or rice milk, then pour into a 9 or 10-inch crust and bake until set, about 50 minutes. Will continue to set as it cools. Cool before cutting.

I’m going to keep this recipe and bake it to my family when I go back. I hope you try it someday. It’s pretty easy to make, especially when you can find kabocha squashes easily.
(For the crust, you can get the recipe on googles. It seems easy to make^^ Good luck!!)

After we set the table, we put a vase filled with Satsuma(one kind of the tangerine) and hollies in the center as a center piece.

Holly is a plant that has red little inedible berries on it. People use it a lot for the Christmas. I’m sure that you know it too. Charlene had a clump of shrubs in her front yard so she cut some of it. And I did the decoration, of course^^ While I was doing it, I asked Charlene, Annie and Mike if it’s edible. As soon as I finished the question, they shouted “NO!!!!” at a same time. It pretty tells how big my appetite is-_- Everybody was about to take the vase away from me~ㅁ~keke;;;;;;

The foods was covering the table and it was delicious. I wonder what we’re going to cook on Christmas keke~

Charlene also gave us a Thanksgiving present. Annie and I got a chocolate turkey, and Mike got a Maple candy(It’s a candy that looks like a maple leaf. It’s really famous as a Canada treat).
After the dinner, we played scrabble. And guess who won? I DID!!!! The girl who’s English is her 2nd language beat other smarty pants in the room, Charlene said. Haha~
I couldn’t sleep for about an hour because I was too full ? literally-_-a;;;;;

The next day, I went out shopping. In America, all the stores and shops have a big sale ? sometimes, the biggest sale through out the whole year. Most of the time, they open at 5 or 6am, but I heard on the news that the outlet mall near where I live opened at midnight-_- Personally, I think that’s over reacting-_-a;;;;

Some stores gave out a breakfast bar for the people who came early in the morning. The people were everywhere and the line was long. It was possible to imagine how big and well known this shopping event is. I could’ve taken the picture of the line but I also had lots of bags in my hands-_-hahaha;;;; My arms hurt so bad right now~ㅁ~ But this can be one of the things that’s memorable ? shopping until your arms fall off keke~
Thanksgiving might have become more industrialized than what it actually means. But if you remember the actual meaning by your heart, that’s all need we need.
