Hi everyone! I'm Hyunseon Kim and this is my exchange year story in New Bern,North Carolina.

I didn't bring a laptop on the way,so I had to use my host mom's laptop,and I couldn't download the korean language in the keyboard,so I decided to write this in english.
I can't believe it's been three weeks since I arrived in New Bern.
For my first episode,I'm going to talk about the orientation camp in New York.
I didn't get to the Newark airport right away,I first landed in Detroit,waited for two hours,and then went on the plane going to the final destination,Newark.
*I applied to the AIFS foundation-AYA program and I think the camp I went to was session two.

When I finally got into the bus going to the hotel,there were like twenty students already!!!

Later I found out that they were from Germany,in fact,there were at least one hundred students,only ten asians including us from haniedu plus the girls from Thailand,and the rest of them were from Europe.
I felt like I was in another world but got along with them,and it was fun!
Since we arrived in afternoon in the first day,we just had an opening ceremony.
The rest of the camp was like this:
workshop in the morning,and NYC tour in the afternoon.
The workshop was pretty fun,not boring;we got to know the rules and the code of conduct,and how to solve the problem with if there's anything wrong with the host family.
I think this is very important,so be sure to listen carfully!
Even though the hotel was in New Jersey,it was less than an hour away form NYC,so we went there twice during the camp.
In the second day,we had a scavenger hunt,solving quizzes in groups.New York seemed like a busy city;people everywhere! I realized that it's crazy to have a car in nyc because traffic jams! Many people walk or use a taxi.

Oh,almost forgot;we had dinner at the hardrock cafe.
In the third day,we had the water taxi;a tour around the island!

after that we had a free time and me,maria,and jana,another friend who's from Germany,went to forever 21.
It was so huge,like three floors!!!





I wish we had more free time,but it was only an hour or two,but it was fun,going to the times square for real!
(we all regretted not going to sephora!lol)
And the dinner was at Ellen's stardust diner!I heard that most of the waiter or waitresses are in broadway.

and that was the end of the orientation camp...and the next day I went to the Newark airport in five!
